The drive took longer than anticipated we left Chicago at 11.15 am and arrived in Springfield around 7.00pm. A great day though, but something to eat and early to bed was the plan for the rest of the evening.

Left Bloomington and rejoined the original road after a short stint on the interstate. Followed Route 66 as it wound it's way past McLean before making a stop in Atlanta. ... a tradition that the ladies and children are given small boxes of milk duds (like malteasers) just for coming in. The breakfast was huge and there were so many variations that in the end, we were guided by the waitress who was obliging, helpful and wanted us all to enjoy ourselves.
