... Lincoln so after a stop at Cold Stone for ice cream on arrival we toured about to see his tomb. Passed the State capital building too which was impressive.
Bob Evans diner for dinner so managed to source vegetables. Succumbed to the chocolate cake dessert too. Mmm. Piccies to follow once my photographers have their act in order;)

once was created by a beaver. The beaver is gone but man has improved upon the lake with a dam at each end and a boat ramp for non-gas powered vessels.
I expected mosquito's but only had some gnats and a few flies around the

... br> When we tried to find the famous Route 66 Cozy Dog Diner and failed, we ended up at another Route 66 place (we were feeling brave until we walked in and found it to be a sketchy place with a tacky Tiki Bar!) and gratefully left when we were told they had just stopped serving lunch. Thank you, Arby's across the street, for your clean place and new BLT sandwich ... phew.

... very quickly. We were soon heading through the suburbs and out of the big city. Joliet was the first interesting town we passed through with great bridges across the river. We had to wait for one of the bridges to let a huge barge through.
It was a shame to see the Launching Pad diner in Wilmington had been closed for two years, just one sign of what the interstate has done to these small towns. The ...
