If you haven't been to a Texas boot store (like myself), it is quite the sensory experience. With the overwhelming smell of cow hide, the shimmer from sparkles at every turn, and the loud "clippity clops" on the wooden floor, I immediately know I am out of my comfort zone. Still,driving across Texas. Staying at Hidden Lake RVPark for two nights although there's nothing to do in Beaumont. But the park is nice. Rainy and humid but okay! Like the sound of rain. We had dinner at Tia Juanitas, interesting MX and cajin food. A new food we never had before, ...

... my hand and a filter full of wet coffee grounds landed half way down the cupboards onto the floor! We left the park at 8:35 and 2 minutes down the road the sun is shining once again. ... in Texas and they are not kidding! That include the state! Oh my! Would you believe the today we encountered wide loads on the road. Reminded me of the hwy 63 days except the interstate highways in the states are all double lanes. Some observations: lots of corn fields and refineries. A "Hurricane Evacuation" road sign is something that we do not see at home but they are everywhere in Corpus Christi! ...

Big Bend National Park was another unexpected surprise for us. Like Death Valley, it was not on our original list of planned stops. But we heard about it from more than one person on our trip, and it was highly recommended so we decided to make the slight deviation in our route that was necessary to check it out.
