... a town with a taxi that runs on weekends or at least get off your ass and learn to ride the bike. 2. Small town hospitality and caring are alive and well. The motel handy man took me to the hospital and his wife picked me up. 3. Don't count on having someones shoulder to cry on when your lonely and scared (especially when they don't call back). Put your big girl panties on, move on and deal with it ...

This afternoon they spent hours relaxing in the pool in our Cajun/Creole country hotel. Tonight we're off to an authentic Cajun restaurant. We'll see how adventurous they are!

... all of them sat way back from the road, and had neatly mowed, very green grass all around them. There were a few pastures with cows, almost no horses, a few sheep and goats. About 7 pm. I finally reached Opelousas, and found a restaurant where I could experience crawfish (crawdads) etouffe; it's stewed small crayfish tails in a thick spicy sauce served over white steamed rice, and it's very rich and very good, slightly spicy hot. The crayfish remind me of baby shrimp ...
Lafayette, Louisiana, United States sglaude... rendevous with Jerie on this trip. The first thing to notice is that everybody knows everybody else, literally. There wasn't a minute that people weren't embracing and saying how good it was to see each other, when in reality it probably hadn't been but a few days since they last met. It was really important for these people to be around each other though. To see them dancing to the good music around the pavilion ...
Lafayette, Louisiana, United States sglaude...
Lafayette, Louisiana, United States sglaude... days. Our route for today was relatively flat, with soft rollers during the first 20-miles. We rode past farms with rice silos, large fields of rice, crawfish ponds, and horse farms. The crawfish ponds were full of egrets, loons, and other birds. Happily, we encountered far fewer dogs than anticipated today. The weather was hot and sultry, and we encountered strong winds during the last 20 miles. Today we entered Cajun Country ... the ...
