It has the bare minimum I like to have when I stay in a hotel. Small work out room, some breakfast options. It was a convenient location, close to the college.

Saturday morning I went to visit a co-worker in Neches for breakfast. I took a nap, then met up with him again to carpool from my apartment to the employee recognition dinner at the Casino in Lake Charles. I assume L'Auberge means "the bear" in French because there was a bear statue outside the main entry, which I made sure to take a picture with. …

I sautéed 5 shrimp (in case they didn’t turn out) in a pan with Pam, a couple slices of garlic and ...

... casino. I was totally grossed out by the smoke (smoking was allowed on the game floors) and by the overstimulating games—way to much noise and way too many flashing lights for me! I took advantage of the complimentary drinks and we asked some employees how the whole system works. A nice woman named Denise walked us through the whole thing, and we played one dollar on a penny slots machine. We won 5 cents ...

    ... corn flour!!!

We ate fried ALLIGATOR (surprisingly yummy!), FROG LEGS (too fishy for me), fried catfish (delish!), and grilled fish (delish!), in addition to excellent french fries, super-buttery broccoli, and a little green salad.

Randy talked to the owner, who he knows, and got him to let us go around and check out the back of the restaurant. We met a couple of the chefs, stepped inside the big seafood ...

... 5 over the speed limit, and it was busy and fast. There are a number of other highways and toll roads that come in and out. They paint the numbers on the lanes and a good thing because my head was on a swivel all afternoon. The truckers didn't slow down for a second. If this was a race, then I was 14 the from the bottom, because that's all I passed and not until the end. The other 10000 cars and trucks passed my by and left me in the dust. ...
