Day 2: Anchorage, Alaska to Portage Glacier

A travel blog entry by inhissteps on May 29, 2015

... I decided to make dinner. After we ate, we headed down the Seward Hwy. and eventually toward Whittier. We saw a few sights like a fresh spring coming out of the rocks where natives and locals like to fill up on water. We stopped and took lots of pictures of the mountains, and a moose in a stream. We got to Portage Glacier in Chagagh National Forest at midnight. We are staying the night at a pull off on the side of the road where some other campers are staying. Nighty night! - ...

... The locals have turned into English people...all complaining about the weather! I am staying in East Nashville, 2 miles from downtown across the Cumberland river in a very up and coming place...think Notting Hill 20 years ago or Williamsburg 5... Staying in a beautiful home completely remodelled and with the nicest man, who has left me in it this weekend alone as he had a conference in Memphis, 3 hours away. That's trust for you! Talking ...

They huddled up for a good old fashioned noodle scratching and eventually launched into The Band's "The Weight." Hmmm, okay, tick...just. It was possible these guys, who could definitely play, had never heard of Crosby, Stills & Nash. Even legendary Tootsies made me wince. Some poor tired dude singing ...

... the bar is really nice. The bar is a little dark but I really like that.
The music was 80's rock, which we loved so very much..we are a fan of that venue of music.
