... been there to encourage me. I have always been a home body. I never went away to camp, I never wanted to be away from my mom, from my home, from my dog. But at 25, the time felt right for me to go off and have my big adventure. I'm going to have the most amazing adventure, I'm going to see so many things, I'm going to meet people from all over the world, I'm going to succeed at my internship and living abroad. All-in-all it wasn't too bad, until the end when we had to weed the sweet pea beds. For those of you ...

      The Pre-Trip

      And we're off!

The past few days have been very hectic. After a lovely Thanksgiving with Jola's parents and Ben's mother and her husband, we suddenly found ourselves in the last week of classes, grading final papers, and packing up our apartment. Somehow, we thought it wise not to hire movers to load the storage pod. This strikes me as risking a very heavy penny-wise, pound-foolish scenario when we return to ...

The Oldest Neighborhood in Detroit- Cork Town

... church are old wooden row houses for immigrant workers trying to make a living in Detroit. And across the street is a beautiful house that was turned into a boarding house during the depression. The original wooden slot doors with scars from the locks and the original wooden floor are remnants of times that have passed. I am not sure if the Gaelic League sponsors this walk every year, but if they do, it is definitely worth your time.
