... language to say hello in...and it's raining.
- Stakes used for tying down various tarps which leap out and grab your pants legs, bite your ankles or shins and are especially perfect for wrapping toes around.
- Random and sometimes large holes in the ground...where the stake used to be, but is no longer. Great for falling in, especially when filled with water.
- Port-o-potties. Enough said.
Early morning as we want to see the sunrise over the Matsushima bay. The first few minutes were promising but clouds soon made this plan not so nice.
An early bath in the onsen before breakfast compensated for effort. We visit the Zuigan-ji Temple which situated in a nice park. Unfortunately there is some mayor renovation ongoing, so we could only see the parts that ...

Some even starting calling me "monkey girl", referring to the way I clamber up the side of my container to get to the roof by dangling off a nearby canopy and swinging myself up while pushing off the side with my feet. Sadly, my container does not have a built in ladder on the side. But hey, I'm an acrobat, right?
So no rain to speak of, but what it has been is HOT...in the 90's pretty much every day. This adds to the adventure ...
... tomorrow. Thursday am. We had a delightful dinner at the Minshuku. Although the food and preparation was less sophisticated than at the Ryokan, we found it more accessible to our palates. Simpler, everyday country food. The Aussies we met are wonderful people. Educated, sophisticated and easy to be around. This morning we are scheduled to do a walking tour of the village here with a local guide. It is pouring rain right now. Hopefully it will not be cancelled. We are now heading ...
