Day 18 Bodrum - Turkey

Get sick of saying another fantastic morning with glassy seas but that is what it is as we approach Bodrum for an anchor drop at 7.30am. State of Origin day so I will need to find free wifi to listen to the game. After breakfast we took the tender into port and then on the advice of the ships receptionist pay the 7 euro to get a cab into town. The plan is to go to a secluded beach on the other side of the peninsular for a chill out day. We pay the cab a very reasonable ...

The buildings of City Hall and Eparcheion that exist in Pothia since the period of Italian occupation are also worth a visit. Another major attraction is the Castle of Chrisocherias , built in 13th century by the Knights of Rhodes. Finally, walk next to ...

Turkish Delight

... a restaurant for lunch where locals ate and that offered authentic Turkish lunch specials for only 10 liras. Lunch was indeed delicious and afterwards we visited Stella in her shop as she regaled us with the history and stories of some of her carpets and curios (jewellery, a nomadic child's dress covered in pieces of silver, stones, and bits of bone that would have been added to through generations), all the while secure in the knowledge that we didn't own a house ...
