          ... where salmon traps had been set since the middle ages, and explored some more. The farming land stretched to 150m up the side of the U shaped valley. Above that the soil became thin and the tree line started. This was the 'marine limit' of the glacier, and nice rich soil. Mum wandered around with a beatific smile on her face saying how happy she was next to running water.

          ... afters. The box of chocolates I'd been given by a student had been raided by some mysterious force, but the remaining ones became prizes for anyone throwing a Yahtzee during the game. Nick, who rarely plays, managed two in one game, probably due to the chocolate incentive, and lead the Yahtzee Holiday Championship for a few days, before I blew everyone out of the water with a massive score of 615, made up of four Yahtzees. I think that record will stand for a long time.

          ... dining tables and chairs for maybe 40, and top floor/attic was set up as a dance hall and of course another bathroom.
          I think were about 8 of us to start with, and another bunch of 6 arrived the next day on the ferry.
          Heidi set about re-organising the place, and we were instructed to carry tables and benches from here to there, and ended up with a lovely outdoor setting for us all outside under some massive old oak trees, and we carried the BBQ down as well ...
