... company and we were reliably informed that 'private ownership is always better than public'. You can't argue with that, can you? A trip to the Dry Tortugas is a 5 hours round trip for a 3 hours stay on this old fortified island. we set off at 7:15. 1 turtle was spotted off the starboard bow on the outward journey. As a fort it is only interesting to the military archeologist but the wildlife is fantastic. It is particularly good for snorkelling ...

... that is done with green screen and CGI but the dangling out of the helicopter over the ocean scene, that's JLC and not her stunt double!
It's quite a drive to go over the bridge. It is the longest in the USA and it feels like it. There appears to be a curious island that exists midway across, through which the old bridge is built. This is actually one of the Keys: Pigeon Key. It was once home to 400 men who worked to build ...

... their famous breakfast at the bar. Pepe's is a great place to go for breakfast it is very small and quaint and very tidy. We sat at the bar and talked to many locals were from the area and hearing about their life stories of struggle and success. We made a friend or two and even then Billybob the cat. ... we were walking that we drove Hwy 1 when in Massachusetts. We stopped at the 0 mile marker for a picture and then headed down the street to the Green Parrot, a bar on the corner of Southard and Whitehead. After a couple of drinks we decided to call it an early night. I don't think that happens too often in Key West.

Looking forward to a lazy day and a ghost tour tomorrow.
