My Bag goes a travelling

... and i had a rewarding day exploring it. It was the place where the Spanish entered Mexico and became their first settlement, so lots of history. Wandered around a fort, went to see some manatees in an aquarium (they weren´t there) and got chatting to a local historian at the Museum. It was a nice little spot to break up my journey, but i have got my first overnight bus tonight!

I can't wait to do it again in Puebla.

I'm making this short as I have to leave for the buses soon but I'm posting some of the pictures that I took last night :) Hopefully in Puebla or Mexico City - our final stop before Europe - I'll be able to find someone to record one of my songs and I'll post it on here as well.

Take care all! See you in Puebla (hopefully with Internet!)

Love, Megan
... it was a completely different story!

Wow. Could they ever dance! And their smiles and their eyes were all the thanks that we needed. It was hot, we were all sweating, and it hurt to move as many of us were still sunburnt from our day at the beach. We didn't care. It felt so wonderful that, in spite of their current physical states, they wanted to dance and move like they probably hadn't in a long time.

And when we were done and about to leave, many of them stood up and ...

... can kick you out of the country with a blink of an eye. But the methods they use are as nurturing and loving as they can possibly be. I really feel comfortable with the environment I'm expected to work in. Let me give ya some fun facts about Veracruz. This is where Hernan Cortes himself landed in Mexico and overthrew the Aztec nation. This is where La Bamba originated. It is also where Salma Hayek is ...

... serving American style food and playing U.S. rock music. The salsa bar was more my style. One of my highlights was going up the mast. Our roller furling had jammed and someone had to do it. We were not short of volunteers but some of my crewmates thought it would be a good idea for me to do the deed. While they were quite capable, the party the night before had left them a little woozy. It is funny how opportunities present ...

En mi Lindo Veracruz...

Hello All! We just left the state of Veracruz on the Mexican Gulf Coast. We spent two days in the city of Xalapa (sometimes spelled Jalapa) and little over two days in the port city of Veracruz (same name as the state). Xalapa is a gem of a town surrounded by lush sub-tropical vegetation. It has the best climate of any city we've visited thus far. It's like the San Diego of the Mexican Gulf Coast, but with the mountain views of Santa Barbara and the scenic ...

... big cities much then, nor could I handle them very well. I still don’t like them much, though I can handle them much better now. Veracruz is pretty large itself, but laid-back. But it’s hot, the summer coming on fast in the tropics. I make tracks up north, next stop Tampico.
