      ... 8217;t want to leave when the last minutes arrive.

      Myself, I was already dreaming about hitting this city for the last three times I had been in Northern Italy but due to lack of time, train strikes or unexpected shorter waiting times it had never been possible. Hence, a long weekend had to be reserved for Venice this year and this is what came from it.

      ... identifying landmarks to get our bearings. It is so easy to become disoriented in these laneways - as we found out later that night after dinner. Left our restaurant and walked for 20 minutes (thinking we were headed for S.Marco Square) and ended up back at the same restaurant !!

      Peter and I spent the day looking for bloke shops - still looking !!! Apropos that, the ladies found something to their liking at every turn. Fortunately, the credit cards ...

      ... a blown glass shop as they are well known for it in venice and I got myself a lovely shot glass for the collection. Then we moved on to find a little pastry place, so we both grabbed something that looked good but we had no idea what they were. We had been hassled a few times to go on a gondola and the thrifty Bianca side was coming through, I just couldn't part with 80-100 euros!
