... site of San Giorgio Maggiore church. It is situated across the water from St. Marks Square, so you get a nice view of that part of Venice. There was an exhibition on, part of the Biennale, of glasswork and also a contraction called "glass tea house" by a Japanese artist. This was fascinating. I then got stuck in the lift in between floors, which wasn't capable of taking both Bob and I and luggage, but I thought would be fine for me and my case - wrong! The lift was glass and about 1m X 1m square. Eventually Basil got his colleague to get me ...

... and down the Prosecco before turning in for the night, which was easier said than done as the bed was on a little mezzanine type bunk which required a bit tact to ascend, something we lacked after alcohol and being tired. But we summoned our Chinese train bunk bed skills and settled down for the night.

We awoke surprisingly early but feeling shattered so "forced" ourselves to stay in bed for a while before emerging at around 11am ready to explore the city...well, after ...
