      ... and through many old Italian towns. As we are now out of the main tourist area the towns are not as well kept as before but give the tourist a feeling of the true Italy. Old wooden buildings with wonderful old churches and a great feel for history.

      Finally I am right out of the mountains and the area has become flat. Its only about 80 or so miles to Venice and rather than take the busy secondary road I head onto the motorway which is a toll road.

      ... and Cleopatra walking down the main boulevard. We tried to explore Kusadasi after our tour but found the shop owners too
      aggressive and rude to deal with at the end of a long day.

      ... in for the 3 night cruise. The staff member made a phone call and disappeared for a few minutes. On reappearing he advised me that he will need to sort it out with immigration tomorrow and they’ll let me know. Let me know what??? What is there to know? I’ve booked and paid for both cruises. What else is there to know? I suppose it’s just a matter of sitting tight and waiting for them to get back to me.

      A light breakfast then the we caught the bus to Venice itself. Upon first viewing the floating city and walking into the maze of streets, lanes, passages and canals I immediately felt distanced from civilization.
