    ... half an hour, Les asked if anyone wanted to steer the boat. There were no takers but after a few minutes Les suggested I take a turn at the helm. Hey, why not. I ended up steering the boat for about 30 minutes or so. It was a good experience.

    The site faces the Neuse River and there is wetland area directly in front of our site that is about 200 feet. Beyond that is the river. The campground has a boat dock and boat ramp. You can rent kayaks or paddleboats to use on the river.
