... around our hood before the masses awoke and found a church that was as gorgeous as the locals that step inside. We had never seen anything like it – the interior walls were covered in blue and white tiles with Biblical stories, saints and the Virgin Mary painted on them. The bathroom was even decorated and smelled like roses. The Praça Nossa Senhora do Brasil was quite a find to stumble upon.

Today was an early start as we had a 2 hour drive out of the city to Sao Jose' dos Campos for our site visits. We traveled on the Via Dutra highway which connects São Paulo with Rio de Janeiro, which happens to be the road contributes to 85% of the entire GDP of Brazil.

Normally there isn't any trouble getting a ticket but seeing as it was carnival they were all booked out! Not just tomorrows buses but the next day too! When Diego gave us his phone number he told us he could arrange something for us if we couldn't get a bus so we decided we'd text him when we got back to our accommodation.
