Where The Seas Meet

... tent (see photos – just big enough to fit a sleep bag). I get many strange looks. The norm is a camper trailer with attached tent. Most others have the huge tents that one can stand in. I am guessing that few, if any, have seen a bivy. They end up charging me about $45. This is the minimum which Lonely Planet never mentioned (vs the $20/person in the guide). So, this is the second most expensive place I have stayed. Hmmm…. But, it is a beautiful night and being outside ...

An easy drive to Palm Beach

... filled with pleasure crafts, (Steve drooled over the sailing boats) and no surf on its’ shallow flats that we wading in. Rumor had it that at the end of the beach we could find the best ice cream around and lo and behold we did at a very popular seaside stand. Finally big scoops of ice cream!! We road back to the hostel and relaxed with a card game next to Inge and Jonna, who were from the part of Denmark that Hans ...

Easy day at sea

... at 9:20, and it is still light out. Sunset won’t be for another hour or so. As evidence, I took a picture of the sun (barely peaking through the clouds) at 8:00. See for yourself.

We are finally hitting our first port tomorrow, Copenhagen. We have a excursion for a tour of the city and then a canal cruise. We’ll take lots of pictures and report back soon!

Dry feet again

We have dry feet again. After a four hour trip across Skagerrak, we have finally "terra firma" under our feet. Getting ready for a 9 hour drive to the Netherlands now. We'll see whether we have a sleep over on the way, or whether I am going to push it for a straight drive through.

Danmark - The Way of Life

... how all the card designs for your EFTPOS card come up for you on the screen to select what one you want. As Utzen was the Danish architect that designed the Sydney Opera House, I chose a card with the good old Syd Opera House on it...home sweet home. And one thing that St George or any of the Aussie banks should take away from Danosh banks is having coffee/hot chocolate machines and mints/chocolates for bank clients to help themselves to every time they come in ........or ...

Skagen, oohh la la!

... sprawl - just a pleasant old world, boutique village that one would escape to for a bit of peace and solitude. One thing I was told that marked Skagen apart from other towns, was how the houses roofs were all red and had a white marking painted on the edges which in the old days the fisherman would look out to the town and these whites etchings alerted them that they were coming home to to the right place. Mmmm interesting, and again so very cute..the houses I mean. All ...

Partying on a random sailboat

... that I should definitely drink a beer with them. There were 4 dudes and a chick on the boat (I can only remember Thomas' and Peter's names) and they were extremely friendly. They were actually from Norway and for their summer vacation they sailed from Norway down to Denmark to party for a bit. Turns out its Peter's boat who's parents are rich as ****, so they got him a huge sail boat (rough life). Anyways, we were slamming back beers and then they ...
