... to heavy snow. Really, seriously, reality doesn't need to bite this bad. My new employer called twice to confirm plans for orientation, check on the moving status and see what they could do on their side to help with the moving arrangements. All that being said, that was really nice. Today we stopped in Abilene, KS at the Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum and looked around. A bit of a history lesson as I ...
Des Moines, Iowa, United States kayaker902... stayed for only one quarter which was probably good as Simpson College got belted in that quarter but were still up (they wound up winning 30-28). Back to the motel to get changed.

After beautifying ourselves we headed back to the chapel for the wedding proper. The groomsmen (and woman - Stephanie was Nate's 'Best Woman' as she is Nate's best friend as well as sister) looked great and then the bridal procession came down. The grandparents from both sides entered, the Nate ...
Des Moines, Iowa, United States hoffers... in the US of A. Mark and I stayed up and watched the whole game which was quite an experience and a great game. Mark had bought two cans of Fosters (750mL for $US 2 each) and cracked one at quarter time. I was tired and refused to drink mine so he drank alone. It took him three quarters to drink (and stomach) it and he wasn't so happy about it afterwards. Geelong came up with the win at the very end so we watched the celebrations and retired for the night. A big day tomorrow so sleep is good.
Des Moines, Iowa, United States hoffers... of similar to any museum so we kind of breezed through it, stopped at the more interesting things and decided stomachs were more important than information so we headed upstairs for lunch.

After lunch we headed off to the Iowa Hall of Pride. Along the way we entered downtown Des Moines and I was a little disappointed by the river as it was in a good spot yet neglected. We got to the Hall, went inside and they had the coolest mural on the wall; well coolest to me ...

Heading from Minnesota (a beloved state) to Iowa which happens to have the best rest stops we have ever seen in our lives. Beautiful architecture, clean, organised and useful facilities, free wifi and overnight parking is safe and ...
Des Moines, Iowa, United States bekandjesse... Des Moines area, the skies got very dark and we were warned there may be turbulence. Actually, yes there was. Twice the plane dropped suddenly and we all flew up out of our seats quite violently. Then it felt like we were doing a nosedive for about a minute or two. I'm thinking great...I'll end up in a cornfield like Buddy Holly. The roller coaster ride was over and the plane landed safely, but still under dark ominous skies. Just as I was ...

After that more driving on to Des Moines, Iowa. That's about it for today. Can't wait for tomorrow. It's our last day on the road. Tomorrow's post should be a fun one :-)
Des Moines, Iowa, United States adeana... crossed at Sarnia. Only had a wait of around 5 minutes, and then a U.S. Customs guy thought it would be funny to practice his french on us. Waved through and on our way. Michigan has pretty much the same scenery as we do, but we were kept entertained by all the billboards. They don't seem to clean up their road kill though - it was disgusting how many dead deer we ...
