Maldives

... The toilet had a glass square panel on the floor it so when you go to do your "job" you can watch the fishes underneath! The tub was at the end of the bathroom, right in front of a TALL glass window (almost like a door) and it opened up. You can jump out of there and go straight into the water! We quickly freshened up and took a dive into the sea. The water was hardly 3 feet deep. The sand was soft and white. There were no fishes in sight tho. We ...

My last days in the Maldives

... was superb. The dive operation had two boats each morning and each afternoon. You could choose between an 'All level' boat which did easy dives and an 'advanced boat' which did... advanced dives. (Duh!) And advanced diving it really was, I was challenged by currents, depths and a lot of things. It was the most challenging diving thus far in my trip. Luckily one of the Divemasters from Manthiri had a few days off and was able to join me for a ...

1350 Mile Arabian Sea Sailing Adventure

... me during the day to work (and great time to practice my knots as, again EVERYTHING is new to me!). I have realized I have a true love for sailing even outside the harbour, watching the waves. who knew they were in such amazing rhythmic patterns? . and for the dolphins. Oh, the dolphins! Before we left Maldives, a big group swam around Intrepid in gorgeous water as Andy was checking the top of the mast. Then, more than 200 miles off the coast of the Goidhoo Atoll in the ...

More Days at Sea

... Dress for dinner tonight is "informal", which is pretty dressy for ladies, gents can wear a sport coat without a tie. We have been invited to eat with the Hotel Director, Lars Olsson, tonight. I guess we have to put in some more days at sea before we earn an invitation to the captain's table. Dinner was totally enjoyable. There were only 6 of us at the table, and the table was in a good section for noise, so we could all hear each other. Our companions were ...

update from the 40 year old!!!

... of us could imagine and we are already talking about where we could go next. Shiv has also told us that we can come for his marriage!!! The next day we needed to be ready to go at 6 AM. Our phone rang and I jumped up, got in the shower, washed my hair, and then started to get dressed.....put on my watch and discovered it was only 12:30!!! We turned on the news, as we couldn't go right back to sleep, and found out Delhi was fogged in ...

Primera Entrada

Two months in Maldives

... last week since getting them to and from school is a 90 minute job for me as a walk back and forth 3 times a day. Without going into too much detail here, Jesse does not like school thus far and is not going very much. Admittedly it is very loud as everyone gathers in a central courtyard to go to their classes. When he arrives, all the older kids are leaving and the younger ones are arriving so it does give the appearance of absolute bedlam. The loudness continues ...

3 weeks in Maldives

... we did some wonderful snorkelling. We saw two very large sea turtles as well as hundreds of colourful fish. By the drop off (after the coral reef) Doug and Jesse saw 4 sharks. Jesse wanted to go out again - he was so excited - and another shark circled them (Yikes!!). He wasn't afraid and wanted to go out a third time, which we did. Doug claims a shark swam between him and I but it was a bit cloudy (we were on our way back into shore) so I didn't see ...

Full moon party on the beach

... we had not the budget for two weeks. Frustrating.) Ok - full moon was yesterday, but of course that's not a reason to miss the opportunity to party :-) . Some speakers are built up on the beach (promising! promising!), and after a romantic dinner at the shore, Gov turned on the music from his Mac. Glad to hear some loud tunes and to dance! This will be the first and last chance to see me moving to 50 Cent's 'Candy shop' and 'A little bit', but oh well, it ...
