Hi all,
Today we set out from Korcula at 10am for the island of Miljet. For a change the wind was almost in our favour so we where able do some sailing with sails up. Marty, the super mariner, was steering the boat while Merv, Brian and Graeme hoisted all the sails (they are all self furling) . Through flukey winds the crew of Atola (because she is so slow we have named her the SS Cargo) managed to eke out a modest boat speed of 6.5 knots. Several tacks later disaster struck ...

... Polo, plenty of things like that. I don't know if they would have kept us busy very long, but clearly there was more to do, much more that I thought!

Early the next morning after a rather short night, we had another look at the city under a clear blue sky, on the way to the bus terminal. It was still deserted, even prettier, and the setting absolutely magnificent. For us Korčula was only a stopover on the way, but it may well have been the prettiest of all.

... but very attractive was the Gospojina Church (Church of Our Lady) from 1483. Under floor tombs of the local aristocracy and defenders are the base with large stone slabs with engravings, and 20C mosaic now at the alter. Outside a flag column from 1515 completed the church's presence in the central square of old Korcula As we wandered through the old town and considered what we will do over the next 2 days, we ran into friends of Michaels.
