... beach again as it was such a nice day.
Walked to Marjan Forest Park and hired bikes and rode around park. Some pretty steep hills but awesome views from the top of the park and heaps fun going back down.
Went back to Fife for dinner since it was so awesome and so cheap and had tripe and roast veal.
Fife is some of the best and best value food I've had in ages. Especially compared to most of the other touristy places in Split
Split, Croatia richlum... down a little. We put on our raincoats and walked into town, risking getting drenched. It ended up not being too bad but started pouring again soon after.

So after three days on the beautiful island of Hvar, we did not go to the beach once. We did not see any sun until it peeked out for a few minutes an hour before we left. The only good thing was that those were the three days Andre had a cold/flu so even though it was a bummer he was ...
Hvar, Hvar Island, Croatia mdaa... the town just around the bend and there is a promenade that we are looking forward to walking along…we are also hoping for some seafood for dinner!

This campsite is along the coast of Croatia just before the bigger town of Split. Yesterday, we drove from our campsite near Zadar along the coast for a couple of hours and found this spot…we wanted something that was close to a small town and also to Split, but ...
Seget Vranjica, Splitsko-Dalmatinska, Croatia armajor7... really not swim so off we went. Refreshing .... yes very refreshing. Definitely not the warmest warmer I have jumped into, actually quite chilly. But hey we did it, we were freezing, and our chest still hurt to breathe.

Port of the night was Hvar. They had a fortress that acted like a lookout and had some really nice landscape shots so Benny and I made our way up there. A little wander around town and a nice hot shower to get the salt out of the hair. We then found ourselves a ...
Split, Croatia davechowie... bags and went to get some lunch. Split is a very interesting city (more on that below), but the most obvious difference from where we had been in Bosnia were the TONS of tourists. Although it is officially "shoulder" season, the narrow alley ways are packed with German and US tourists. Good for the Croatian economy, not so good for us.

We had lunch at a place recommened by Rick Steves (Sperun Restaurant), but overall the meal was disappointing. The ...
Split, Croatia balkans2009... from the stret and assumed it must be a hostel because of my foreign accent! I was so embarassed by the thought of being that loud, but soon realized that you could hear everything happening on the streets from the hostel (so I'm using that in my defence!). The two boys and I made some pasta, and met up with Marija and Doris in Central Split around 10 pm to go out for drinks. We sent to a cool secluded rock bar, where they played mostly american music from the 70s, 80s and ...
Split, Croatia canadianjulie... me over 2 hours. Nobody told me bus 5 doesn't run on Sundays, and that bus 8 only runs once every hour. I could have hopscotched there faster. I arrived hungry but too frustrated to do anything about it. I found my dorm and fumbled around in the dark ( I love my headlamp!), trying not to wake up the German girl in my room. Like a fool, I decided to do laundry. Note to any future travellers: those laundry soap leaflets are totally useless. I basically just ...
Split, Croatia packingitinIt was a quiet day on board today. I think most people were feeling a bit sad about our sailing trip coming to an end. We set sail this morning towards Split and enjoyed our last view of the mountainous mainland. By mid afternoon we had arrived back at the harbour. I'm sure the town was full of people who were excited to be boarding the boat tomorrow, like myself the week before. We wandered around town for one more look around. For ...
Split, Croatia jcastellan... really wanted at that moment in time was to climb hundreds of steps up the bell tower (what she actually really wanted was ice cream). Despite it being quite big, we somehow managed to miss it, and paid ...
Split, Croatia sianeth06/12/06: Dobardan! (Good day!) from Croatia. We are currenty situated on the beautiful island of Korcula (core-CHEW-la) off the coast of Croatia - land of friendly people, cheap wine and beer, spit fire cooked lamb and pork and all the rest of it. White pebble beaches, turqoise waters, mountains and the great blue sky greet us each day. The locals are fluent in english and much of this country has not yet been spoiled by tourism.... and ...
