... It provided, however, a relaxing way to enjoy the setting sun amidst the mountainous scenery ("Japanese Alps"). We caught the evening shinkansen from Nagano to Kanazawa.

*Travel Tip: Train station lockers make storing luggage super easy when moving between hotels and having adventures at the same time. In Japan, however, these lockers are smaller than those in Europe. We do not recommend traveling with large bags since they will not fit in most train station lockers. ...

... There are still hundreds of people here, and we take a few hours to see the temples. Now as its a nice sunny day, we walk the streets for a few hours discovering lots of cool little lanes and shops. Nagano is a really nice town, spotlessly clean and full of extremely polite people.
Tomorrow we are taking the Shinkensan to a town called Kanazawa, on the west coast of Japan. My only concern is the weather, i think we are in for some rainy days

... are not as a high as the Alps the snow seems excellent.

The hotel at the airport was, well an airport hotel so not much write home about… but Japan on the other hand…

Can’t wait to chat to our Japanese friends back at JSK to explain what a country they’ve got.

I hope the kids remember and savour it as there won’t be many more interesting and fun countries they ...

... finally got down to the bottom and re-charged in a really cool vegan restaurant called Roots. We said goodbye to Adam and then off for a final afternoon of family skiing and the kids were amazing. Sinead also managed the Olympic downhill section and the by the time Sinead gave up with 30 mins after a couple of nasty falls, the kids carried on with about 5 back to runs. ...

... finished up with 2 knackered kids. Sinead had left the video recorder on the table in the restaurant and went back and there it was surrounded by hundreds of students. Great culture in Japan.

We got back to the resort and the kids played with their Aussie mates and we enjoyed some adults beers and 2 for 1 burgers followed by Mt Fuji chocolate lava cake which parents didn't get a sniff ...
