... journey, partly to review my course in Japanese and extract the verbs and vocabulary needed for the tasks of travel, and mostly because I loved this ryokan with its old wooden buildings looking like samurai houses and stone lanterns and paths through plantings, and lit torches at night.

Traveling Back on a Stone Path, Usuki, Oita Japan

... up. Anyone interested in classes should definately inquire beforehand. (Sala de Usuki open 9am-9pm 0972-64-7271)

There is a shopping road called Haccho Oji in this area too. There are a bunch of souvenier shops and places selling soft ice cream. I wanted to try the miso flavored soft ice cream but it was too cold out!

From the visitors center you walk up Nioza Historical Road. The old stone streets lined with beautiful white washed walls, beneath

Traditional River Boat Hita Oita Japan

... can even be enjoyed by visitors who are staying by themselves or as a couple. To ride on a boat with an open space is 3150yen a person (about $35USD)
A "JUMBO" boat for 45 people with a full course meal is 65,000 which seems quite expensive but comes out to about 1,500 yen a person (plus the costs of drinks). All-you-can-drink is an additional 3150yen. W "medium" boat for 17people w/ meal is 26,000yen.

Nature Travels in Nakatsu Oita Japan

... also. This picture shows the sign that leads you to the cycling terminal.

At the cycling terminal there are dozens of bikes to choose from. A couple of mountain bikes and your traditional Japanese mama-chari (which is a bike with baskets that mamas use to go shopping) not much more than a one gear beach cruiser. They even have two-person bikes, which was the bike of our choice. For three hours bikes cost 360yen (less than ...

... like a business and a new product. Basically you could have an amazing product to sell that you know will do well within its market but if you don’t promote it correctly it will fail to make an impression; well the same sort of principle can be applied to you. You could tick all the boxes and be the ideal candidate for a job but if you don’t come across well in the translation of your CV then you have no chance of ...

I Now Enjoy Getting Naked in Public Areas

... You can feel your heat beat in your feet.

After you are done in the sand you then proceed to the Onsen area. You get naked (still no one around), wash all the sand off you then jump in the boiling hot bath. Now, after the long hot bike ride and the sand, then the bath, I was on the verge of passing out. The bath was so hot! I dragged myself out and couldn't walk straight. Very relaxing but very draining as well. Just as I was leaving a couple ...

Aso and Beppu: Mountains and Onsen

... colder and sunnier, however that happens.

Either way, after a quick nap on the train, we were in Beppu, onsen capital and neon playground, though it was pretty dead being a weekday and all. We met a couple of other tourists at the hostel, Kai (German) and Leo (Filipino) and headed right to an onsen, which was totally what the doctor ordered to rest my aching feet and strained legs. We actually ended up at Kitahama spa, a newer spa with outdoor pool and wet ...

The Biggest Volcano Calder in the World

Arrive in Aso-san around 1pm and after a quick lunch we decide to head up to one of the craters - Kijima-Dake which is one of 4 volcanos in the area. The walk up from the bus stop half way up the mountains only takes 45 minutes but it's really steep and very windy on top but the views are fantastic and it really shows how large this calder is (i.e. the original volcano crater) - it's approximately 23km wide - that's a very big volcano by ...
