Sendai, Kagoshima, Japan linara... England and France beneath the English Channel). The next part of our journey was about two hours and we arrived in Sendai even more exhuasted than we did in Hakodate.
We were able to overcome our fatigue and head for the island of Matsushima, listed as one of the three most beautiful places in Japan. Our first order of ...
... times with a teacher that I worked with at another branch of CIS. Not sure how it was found out that I sent her an email to ask about their situation. That's the draw of running a business like a family, emotion... I might go back to Taiwan at Christmas and tour some more of the island. James and I have been discussing this over the last few days. We will most likely be working the 2nd of January, a Friday, which will kill holiday plans home. Today at work I ...
Seoul/Busan, Korea Rep. morpheousHi Everyone, Man has it been crazy week. I attended the Rotary Kyushu District Conference in Nobeoka, Japan. The schedule hasn't been to hectic even though we leave at 8:00 am and return to our host families between 6 pm and midnight. Mostly its been been a good mix of sightseeing and vocational tours. Today we are visiting the local Coke bottling plant. Yesterday, we finally hit our first Onzen (Hot Springs). Don't have much time. More Later
Ebina, Japan christopheroren... Zealand reading the book, and saying how the basic principles of the children`s story can be applied to adulthood as well. At the time I didn`t have a clue what he was talking about, but I can see where he was coming from now... As for the other exhibits, they were fun and interactive, although the non-existent English information meant that I mostly just pressed buttons at random and hoped for the best! After a quiet night in my hotel room (no ...
Miyazaki, Japan rich... called in at a couple of lookouts along the way, before reaching the barren lava fields at the Arimura Observatory where there were great views of the bays and of Sakurajima itself, with the clouds just about keeping clear. I took a couple of photographs of Tatsu who must rank as the person with the most serious camera pose in the world! In reality though, he was a really friendly, funny guy who was making the day a lot more interesting and informative for me. There ...
Kagoshima, Japan rich... in the distance, the other volcanoes that I would be visiting in the proceeding few hours...or so I hoped! Certainly in the space of the next ninety minutes or so, as I moved away from the schoolchildren who were doing a much shorter hike, I genuinely feared for my life on more than one occasion, and maybe I was a bit irresponsible to continue with the conditions as they were, i.e. snow covered. After skirting within a metre of Karakuni-dake`s crater edge, I ...
Kagoshima, Japan rich... wasn't all that great, but I tried everything on my tray at least. I wasn't really hungry anyway from the sandwiches and other things I had consumed before getting on the flight. We're about to land. I dozed after finishing up the post. I finally caught up! Anyway, I need to put away my laptop. I'm almost back at grandma's!
In the air from Nagoya Airport in Japan to Taipei, Taiwan, Japan kuraiwatcher... in a display case. The tanuki is a dog/racoon animal that has gigantic balls. It is important in Japanese mythology, and stautes of it are everywhere. Soon we hiked off, through bamboo and pine trees, mandarin orange groves, and rice fields. Locals were drying persimmons and white radishes outside their houses. The end of the hike brings one to ...
Kumamoto, Japan schooley... home, this city has grown on me, its so clean friendly, welcoming and spacious. Took a trip to the SONY centre, showcasing all the latest technology- yet to be released! Needles to say Pat was in his element. Our last meal to say goodbye to our group, ended on a high with a delicious meal of beef dipped into this special sauce and rice- rounded off with a ASAKI beer or two. Met some nice people, who we hope to keep in touch with- esp Tommy!
