... The ticketing process was quite complicated for a non-Japanese speaker, but we made it on the boat and saw a unique view of Tokyo, including bridges and lots of apartments. Everyone in Japan hangs their clothes outside to dry, even in more affluent households, due to lack of space in the homes. We also saw homeless men, who were just living along the river and not on the streets, and they had elaborate cardboard structures for their shelter.

On Friday I got to escape my desk in the teacher's office and go visit another JET's school. He teaches in Rokko Island which is the second artificial island in Kobe. It was made between 1973 and 1992 by removing a mountain and dumping it into the sea.
