Onze laatste bestemming voor we terugkeren naar Tokio: Beppu. De onsen-hoofdstad van Japan. Een onsen is een heet bad, gevuld uit een natuurlijke warmwaterbron. Daar heeft Japan er als vulkanisch eiland nogal veel van. Maar de meeste zijn dus in Beppu. Normaliter bevat zo'n onsen een apart mannen- en vrouwenbadhuis, maar je kunt ook kleine privé-baden huren. Another praise to the Japanese goes out for their baking skills. Usually our breakfast has been on the go and we just dropped by at the local bakery. This way we've been enjoying some delicious breads (some with whole wheat, raisins, nuts and even a real crust!). Yes, it's something simple but so good and cannot be taken for granted outside Switzerland ;-).
