... clear the snow from my shoe and I got a bit bogged and off balance so landed in the snow. Where it is very soft, it was harder but most of the parts we walked were quite ok. Partway through we stopped for a hot drink and a biscuit. Our guide made a seat in the snow and gave us plastic sheets to sit on which kept a tiny bit of the chill out of the bottom. ... in Shiga Kogan village and walked about 1.5 km up to the pools. We were not alone: apes here to watch apes. Surprisingly, it was pretty amazing; you cannot deny your genetic roots. And I think I saw a relative or two in the pool! The babies were adorable and can dog paddle in the pools and they climb in and out by themselves And the mums looked blissed out when the little ones finally stopped being annoying and nursed. Five minutes peace from all of you. ...

... dinner served in our room and it's our last night in Japan. Tomorrow we head home for Australia. This has been another amazing trip to Japan for us. Some people have asked why keep heading to Japan when there are so many other places to see. For us it is a no brainer, copious amounts of snow, amazing food, incredible people and only one flight away. The only thing missing is having the kids with us; miss you guys both heaps and heaps and can't wait to see you ...
