Breakfast 7:30 am Check out 9:00 am Drove north to Wajima morning market. Large market, stalls with lacquer ware - very expensive hand-painted, specialty of this area. Also antiques, fish, pickles, pottery, hand-crafted items, etc. Bought a set of 5 lacquer dishes and a vase for Gwen. Drove to Shiota, a salt mining town. Stopped at a museum where there were displays explaining the various methods of extracting salt - from seaweed and from sand. Videos that ...

For the final day, we got up and had our normal breakfast. Sam laughed that the HP had been unopened the whole season and since Thomas arrived, we'd just finished the bottle!

We had a couple of hours to kill so decided to go sledging. Kids loved it although it nearly killed Sinead. Isabel and Thomas did some nice runs and there was a nice carved toboggan run. For the final run, Thomas decided to go to the top of the ...

For the last day we decided we had to travel up the valley to Happo, site of the 1998 Japanese Winter Olympics. The day was absolutely perfect and one of the best days skiing I've done with perfect skiing conditions. We met with Adam and warmed up on the green runs and the bottom before headed up the mountain. We did a few green runs before finally getting to the top. There was ...

... world – dream life / no kids.

We took the gondola straight up to the top of the mountain and the kids were amazing. Straight down. The snow was good but a little icy. We did a few runs at the top of the mountain and then skied down to the bottom of the valley including a red run which the kids took in their stride.

There was a student skiing tournament so it was busy but ...

Breakfast was a fine affair and Thomas was in heaven when we realized that the hotel had one bottle of HP sauce! We got down to Hakuba and left the kids with the ski school. Thomas was hilarious, saying he had done it before and could go up to the top of the mountain! Isabel was quieter but confident.

We then headed up the mountains and enjoyed some great skiing…Sinead was calm and cool ...
