For the final day, we got up and had our normal breakfast. Sam laughed that the HP had been unopened the whole season and since Thomas arrived, we'd just finished the bottle!

We had a couple of hours to kill so decided to go sledging. Kids loved it although it nearly killed Sinead. Isabel and Thomas did some nice runs and there was a nice carved toboggan run. For the final run, Thomas decided to go to the top of the ...

... and it was just great to be up in the clean cool air – so different from Bangkok. We went down to the bottom of the mountain for lunch and met the kids in the canteen, laughing with the instructor. Great to see them so confident.

We headed off for another couple of hours in the afternoon and then back to pick up the kids. Back to the hotel for a steak and some well earned beer and ...

... We got off at Hakuba and were met by Sam from Aqua Alpine. The hotel was a short ride and wow…it was really nice. An old company winter retreat, it had an amazing open plan bar, lounge and restaurant.

We quickly got our ski gear from the hire shop and settled at the bar and enjoyed a first night of happy hour jenga where as long as the tower remained up, it was 30% off! Kids loved it. The food was also great and our first Japanese steak!
