Today we left our lovely guesthouse in Nagoya and headed for one of the worlds most famous sights- Mount Fuji. We took a train to Odawara, changed to a smaller one, then 15mins later changed to an even smaller one. And started weaving our way up mountains and through massive valleys towards Hakone. ... It turned out that Ito also has beautiful nature, and the hostel was really nice. So first about the onsen etiquette. When you go in, you undress completely then you go into the next room. Here you rinse/wash yourself in the shower, while sitting down on a small stool (no standing). Then you just sit in the hot water and relax for a while. Shuzenji Onsen is about 2 1/2 hours from home in Fujisawa, Kanagawa by train and the last 10 minutes by bus. I expect it would be about an extra hour if coming from Tokyo.
