I had been warned about the smell in Roturua and when I arrived it wasn't too bad but the closer you get to the lake or any drain you get the strong stink of rotten eggs. Today we became 'Zorbonauts' (their name, not ours)! We were finally able to try 'Zorbing', which we had seen on the Amazing Race a couple of years ago. Basically, they put you in a big inflatable ball, pour a little water inside with you, and roll you down a hill! (We couldn't do the dry Zorb today because it was too windy). It was so much fun!...

We decided to take in some of the thermal sights today, since Rotorua is surrounded by volcanic activity. In fact, the whole city smells a little of sulphur all the time-you just get used to it after awhile. So off we drove to the Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland, about 15 minutes from the city. After Taupo we headed up to Rotorua, and its true you really can smell this place before you can see it. It is just horrible I dont think I ever got used to the smell esp when we jumped out of the car and the Polynesian Day Spa and in 2 secs flat I was back in the car nearly throwing up! Its like being in a car with everyone doing **************...
