Cheap booze in Malaysia!

We caught the afternoon ferry over to Langkawi which took around 2 1/2 hours. It was a bit of a rust bucket but got us there just as sun was setting which was nice as we came into port. We sailed through (no pun intended!) customs and were soon procuring the services of a taxi with who we had to barter with as he was trying to charge 3 times the quoted price. Another beach holiday!

Langkawi is nice, very hot but not exactly exiting! Was a decent place to hang out for a week but I've run out of things to say about nice beach places! We did hire a car for 3 days, which was a bit weird to drive again! There are some cool waterfalls with rock pools at the top which are almost thermal due to the heat of the sun! Duty Free Livin'

The ferry ride lasted about an hour and a half, giving me enough time to work on my Bhasa Melayu (the official language of Malysia). We coasted through customs and found ourselves inside a very modern building. Shiny marble floors and spotless glass floor to ceiling combined to create the Langkawi jetty building. Hi all

Arrived in Langkawi day before yesterday and hit the beach straight away. Very windy thugh so the waves were too big to go swimming, beautiful views though. Palm trees and gorgeous jungle covered islands out in the bay.

The hostel we're staying in is great. Everyone's really friendly and hangs out together and it has a giant paddling pool! Who needs hotels??!

Langkawi; Arriving at Our First Paradise Island

We got up early in Penang and were picked up by mini-bus to travel to the Langkawi ferry. The ferry was a little claustraphobic and the journey to the island was a little boring and ill-making - until we reached Pulau Payar. This was a stop before Langkawi itself and the ferry moors at the very impressive dive platform. Motorbike, romance and freaking out at great heigh

A couple of days riding round this beautiful island was enough to stir anyones romantic tendencies. We also went on the terrifyingly high cable car, got caught in a heavy rainstorm (on the bike) and had dinner at sunset on beautiful Cenang Beach watching a parasailer wheel about against the backdrop of a stunning sunset.

No tax on beer (and a very social guesthouse) meant we had to leave before our livers did however...
