... we encounter their famous black beaches. The beaches are made up of black sand and tiny pieces of gravel that landed there as a result of the erupting volcanos many many years ago. ... a waterfall, tucked in behind a town on the coast, don't know the name of the town, probably couldn't pronounce it anyway. It was a beautiful waterfall cascading down from the high plateau above which was lake fed according to the sign that I could work out. It turns out there are many waterfalls along this road as the road follows the low section of the coast and for many kilometers the left side of the road is overshadowed by the plateau. it sort of reminded me of a greener ...
... pushed on to see so many sites, that i have a hard time remembering all of them. A quick run down,
- Pingvellir National Park - Moon like landscape with wonderful lake
- Geysir - pretty crazy
- Gulfoss - nice waterfall
- Seljalandsfoss - amazing, you can walk behind as well
- Skogarfoss - Very nice
First night we stayed in the tent at skogarfoss, a beautiful waterfall right beside our campsite.
... are of some pretty well-known sites. At the black sand beach in Vik, I was the ONLY person there, until a tour bus showed up. It almost felt like I had most of the sites to myself.
Tomorrow I will head to Jokulsarlon and make my way back west to the Golden Circle area. Should be another beautiful drive, and this time, with gas cards in hand. :)

over the rise.) The photo op would have been better if the clouds weren't hugging
the top of the mountain but it was an interesting exercise to try to take pictures
using the surf as a reflecting foreground element. Larry found the high (maybe
2 meter?) black-sand dunes with sea oats growing like "hair" on the tops to be
a good photo challenge.
From there, we drove through a fairly-long tunnel ...
