... Then we were off, back into one of the jammed packed trucks we jumped and we were whisked back into the city. Such an amazing experience that I would recommend to anybody traveling to this area. We are off to Ometepe for a few days, it is an island on a lake here in Nicaragua, and we are told there isn't very good Internet connections there. Sandboarding and Hiking Volcanoes
... much closer to a cold shower and clean clothes! All in all we hiked 21 Kms, 11 the first day and 10 the second. It was a very fun 2 days, a trip we will never forget, especially being on Ryan's birthday! And now 3 days later our legs are still feeling it so we know it was a good one! We Satisfied the Need for Speed (Kind of)
... Cerro Negro. Yes, the volcano is active and last erupted in 1999. You’ll see in our pictures that we were able to get right up next to the active vents and up to the lip of the crater. In fact, we scraped a little volcanic soil away and the ground under foot was so hot you could cook on it.

Leon Old and New
... where they live now, but if it’s anything like the place where they display their art, it’s probably the biggest mansion in Central America. From there we wandered to the Parque Central and the third largest cathedral in the Americas, La Basilica de la Asuncion. It’s the burial place of lots of Nicaraguans, most notably Ruben Dario, the famous Nica poet. They are crazy about him here.

... the main square, had a look at the cathedral where they were displaying Virgin Mary all done up in the entrance. While walking around we found Hannah and James from the Cartagena to Panama sailing which was nice.
