Hostel Review in a nutshell - Yoho International Youth Hostel

I thought that this would be just an average hostel after paying £12 a night for a 8 bed mixed dorm. I walked in and it was very spacious, super clearn and it was spread over 3 floors. The rooms were pretty big and had individual lockers and key cards. The staff were really helpful, friendly and strongly encouraged us to drink (haha). There was free Wifi which worked very well. There was a great pub on the ground level which offered drinks till late and had a wonderful happy hour twice a night - A Happy 2 hour?. There was a cosy common room where they insisted playing The Sound of Music every night (which we never managed to watch as we were otherwise engaged) and there was also a café. Everything you need. Check out the site if you're travelling there **Highly Recommended - http://www.yoho.at/

loved staying here , but we arrived an hour after they closed and was forced to find a place somewhere else because they wouldn't check us in , so we had to sleep in the metro station. maybe make a 24 hour check in ?

All we really knew about our next stop was that Salzburg's big claim to fame is The Sound of Music. Literally, everywhere you turn, you see another building or garden that you recognize from the movie- they love it! (Our hostel even showed the movie every night at 8. Apparently, a lot of the movie went waaaay over my 7 year old head.) Salzburg …

Rain was due in around midday so we headed out to walk around some more areas of Salzburg we hadn't been to before it arrived. Walking down Linzer Gasse I was looking for steps up to the ministry on the cliffs this side of the river and found some through an archway. I left Mum in a cafe as coming down steps is not good on her knees so she …

Left at 9am and took 30 minutes to walk to walk to where the funicular goes up to the top of the castle. Perfect sunny day up to 26 degrees, blue skies that were a perfect backdrop to the incredibly beautiful town , birds cheeping and because Salzburg is in this gorge either side of the river and between 2 big rocky outcrops you can always see …

We checked out of the hostel and got to the station at 9am
to catch the 9.25am train to Salzburg. It was a stunning sunny day in the mid 20's. We had purchased our tickets online for 17 E for the 1 hour long train trip. After getting ourselves seated we soon realized that some seats had been pre booked and it took several moves before …

6 hours in Salzburg (Austria). That's all we had!

Gaurav and I knew it was not enough to do justice to this Baroque city, famous for Mozart and the movie 'The Sound of Music' among others. So we tried to cover as much as we could on a roller-coaster of a day! The Salzburg Card came handy.
