After dropping Ann and Pat at the ferry terminal, we made a straight run to New Plymouth. Arrived in Auckland after a long stint travelling from Mexico to New Zealand via the USA (left Cancun, Mexico Sunday morning and landed in Auckland Tuesday morning). So for the first few days I was slightly jet lagged. For the first 5 days, I spent it in the YHA International hostel. Well, last night I slept great... but for some strange left hand side of the road driving dreams. Staying in a mixed dorm room here is a little bit strange.. but the people are quiet, and polite. Yaping House is a bit.. not run down.. but could use a bit of fixing up. Not that I'm complaining... some of the company housing I've stayed in for my former employer...*shudders*... there aren't even any squirrels. Auckland is incredibly lush and green, but according to the locals, is fairly average...

Did I say before that the people here were polite? Oops. A couple of guys got in a bit of a tussle here last night... alcohol may have been a factor. Prices are weird here. Some things, like my bike, are normally priced, so if your dollar is higher valued you get a pretty good deal. But other things, like outdoor clothes are retardedly priced. I recommend buying that sort of thing before you leave. The cheapest rain jacket I could find was 65 NZ dollars, and they averagely run around 180. So ...
