As this is my first ever entry that my background is of someone who has travelled the United Kingdom an awful lot and has travelled to a lot of Europe, Australia and New Zealand. I will have a lot more to contribute in the coming months, but that is it for now and I hope that I shall enjoy meeting many new people and share your thoughts and experiences.

swanning off to paris this week to see grandma and pops, work party do the following week and then brussels before chill-axing over christmas. looking forward to meeting my cousin layla and savouring the seasonal cooking.

PS almost forgot -chickenpox have scabbed over now - inherited mum's immune system so kicked viral butt no problem.

It was still incredibly quiet, although there were signs of people and families around and about. Street sellers dotted the harbour, with seeds and various food stuffs being the main wares. There were children (and the odd teenager) on the jungle gyms that lined the path (one every few hundred yards or so - jungle gyms, not children) and more cats and dogs wandering around then before ...

... that is, with the rubbish you set off in your garden, bought from dodgy retailers - but this one raised the bar to new altitudes. It was relentlessly awesome. I felt like a child again - wide eyed, jaw brushing my knees, drunk on a cocktail of fire, colour and noise (and Stella Artois).

The whole night was brilliant. Absolutely superb. Was I bothered by the anti-Catholicism? That depends which voice in my head you ask. But I’m not going to pass judgment here, even though I ...

... we move the rope from one stair to another... Frank is very busy, not good for his hand! Once out of the lock, we raft wherever we want, and go to the chandlery/marina office. There we check the weather, horrible. Only low pressure zone (says Frank, if they join, we have a nice storm!)

Today almost no wind, so we did the whole trip on the engine. No tackling, going straight, well, we arrive at a decent hour. Again a new experience though: a lock, and there is a traffic jam! Everybody waits to get in, so we all are there side by side, trying to keep the boats noses right where it has to be, without bumping the one into the other. Frank is doing a super job, and ...

Today, we leave for Eastbourne, and the wind is not very good (grrr, they had forecasted S-SE wind, but well, forecasts are not this good those days), which means we will have to tack, which will reduce our speed! The weather is ok, even some sun, but we get tired. We reach Dungeness, pass it, but soooo slowly... Frank starts to evaluate our ...

... meeting point all day in case the kids came back needing something. Beibei took that position since she doesn't like rides. We could let most of the older kids go out on their own, but the junior kids stuck with the other 4 staff for the day. The first ride they wanted to go on was "Tidal Wave" and this water ride had the biggest splash I've ever seen for a theme park. We ...

... and we enjoyed a warm breakfast one and half hour before our arrival to Gatwick Airport, composed of potatoes, salsa omelets, yogurt, juice and coffee/tea. Yeah, food at 4:00 am, Ottawa time, didn't really sit well with me... But I still some of it.
