Museums, photos and the vagaries of Air Travel

A travel blog entry by ozplanman on Sep 25, 2013

Started out today by heading down to the 46th street pier to visit the Intrepid Museum. This was a bit of an insight to what seems to be a fairly utilitarian world of military aircraft and vessels. I was very surprised by the appearance of the Blackbird aircraft, given that it flew at ridiculously high altitudes of 80 or 90 thousand feet …

Soggy London

A travel blog entry by ozplanman on Sep 17, 2013

We awoke to almost sunshine on the 15th and had to wait and talk amongst ourselves until 8.30 am when the breakfast room was finally opened. I think Janet the owner who appears to have
bad knees and some other issues, finds it hard to get ready for guests in the mornings. Once she does however, she looks after them admirably! GG …

Paris to London

Off to a flying start today…Aurelie and Medhi arranged things so she could drive us to the station and travel most of the way in with us. Organising children, cars and GG (lol) ultimately meant we missed the train we were hoping to catch by just 30 seconds, so we sat on the platform for half an hour until Aurelie received a phone call from …

Return to London (Again)

A travel blog entry by ameng on May 09, 2012

9th May, 2012
In the morning we left Liverpool Lime St Train Station for the second time and headed back to London. As we didn't have the best of times staying at Generator Hostel, we decided to try YHA St Pancras as we only had one night in London anyway.

That afternoon I caught up with an English friend called Joe, whom I had met on …

Valentine's Day In London

It was another early morning wakeup call for us. We had to be at the airport by 7 A.M in order to catch out 9 A.M. flight to London. Fortunately, we had packed most of our items the night before. With a quick shower and a final check of the room, we were out the door. The Hotel Adrian's staff had arranged for a taxi to pick us up. As was the cas...

The YHA is right across the road from St. Pancras station, port of the Eurostar and where a train leaves for the airport. A good little shopping centre and restaurants is close by and the beds are comfy, showers etc. clean and an eatery downstairs seemed well patronised.

Great location. Not the cheapest backpacker but the rooms were clean and of decent size. We chose a twin private room and had to share bathrooms with others on the same floor. But there are plenty. THe hostel has a cafe but not cooking facilities. WOuld definitely stay here again mainly due to its great location. Staff are friendly too. Bathrooms I found were Ok but my friend whose stayed at hostels in other countries thought that these bathrooms were the cleanest ones shes seen.
