Heading to Vienna through Linz today. Woke up at 6:30am to catch the
7:14am train to Linz from the main train station which was only about
a 10 minute walk from the hostel. Got to the train in time and the
train was on it's way. The weather did not look promising however once
I arrived in Linz around 12:30pm it was starting to clear up. I got my
bags into a locker and had lunch at the train station. I also picked
up some fruit and granola bars for a snack during the da...
Today I am in Vienna. I woke up around 9:30am and went downstairs for
the continential breakfast they served. For a continential breakfast
this one was actually not bad. They had HBE's (Hard Boiled Eggs), tons
of fruit, lots of sandwich meat, etc. I made sure I got a good
breakfast in me before I headed out to do some siteseeing. Today my
plans were to walk around and get familiar with the city. It was not
raining outside however it was very windy and extremely cold. A...
We arrived in Vienna late in the afternoon after a stop at Bratislava for a few hours. Bratislava was even more quite then last time I was there. We stopped and had lunch and then moved on to Vienna. On arriving in Vienna we stopped at the Schnapps museum. This was really cool as i did not realise there were so many different types of Schnapps. After trying a few different ones I decided that they were all pretty good. In the evening we went out for Schnitzel and beer. It was great. The next ...
Vienna, Vienna, Austria alanna.hollowayWe arrived in Vienna, Austria today after a very long 12-hour night spent in a couchette in an Italian night train. It turned out that we were lucky to get a train at all though since yesterday Venice was on a public transport strike. Luckily the other 4 who shared our couchette all spoke English- two British girls and an American couple from Arizona. After numerous heated discussions about politics and culture, we slept very poorly as the train stopped every hour or so to pick up and drop of...
Vienna, Vienna, Austria aliciabrandonIt's a good thing that Austrians speek German just so I don't have to learn another language so Gutentak!! Vienna is a really beautiful place, it's really nice to stroll around. This month by the city hall they're playing free ochestra shows so I went along and watched one and it was really great, heaps of food and drinks stalls all around which had very tasty meals to eat while watching the performance. Also in Vienna I met up with someone who I met in greece and we went to the habsburgs sum...
Vienna, Vienna, Austria ben27My last day in Salzburg was a pretty relaxing one. I wanted to walk to the top of the mountain to visit the fortress that sits there, but it was pouring rain all day, so the view would have been nonexistant. Instead, I strolled through the Old Town and the Christmas markets some more, enjoyed a little mulled wine, and headed back to the hostel by the end of the afternoon once the thunderstorm had started. I got my laundry done (always an exciting moment!) and met a few people. We all hung out...
Vienna, Vienna, Austria canadianjulieHey everyone so I made it to Vienna. I was so glad that nothing went wrong with my flight, so I am back on track. I got in last night around 6pm and went from sunny hot Greece to cold, rainy Vienna. I do not think I have seen it rain harder, and that coming from someone that lives in Vancouver! So I walked around the neighbourhood for a while until I realised that it was Sunday and everything was closed. So I headed back to the hostel, whether it was the flight or the Ozo shots from the night...
Vienna, Vienna, Austria cora_explorerSaturday: Well, we get up at 6:00am, get all our stuff together and proceed to eat as much as humanly possible before the first train of the day departed. If I'm going to pay 60 Euros, I'm going to get my moneys worth out of the free breakfast damnit. We get to Munich, our transfer point just fine. Of course, we're not able to get a refund or discount on our now useless ticket to Vienna; thanks Deutsch bahn. So of course we buy new tickets and get on our way to Vienna; we literally hopped on ...
Vienna, Vienna, Austria dabassisstAnother bus journey and another city with not enough days to see everything!! July 24, 2008 Another early morning bus ride through Cesky Krumlov and on to Vienna. The drive was beautiful with hills and valleys lines with trees and houses. Everything is very old compared to home and has so much character. Christina stayed in Cesky but another girl, Belinda got back on the bus so we decided despite the rain to book a night bike tour. She was only going to be in Vienna for the night so it really...
