TravelPod's Snapshot

Once the house of a former Bolivian president, the Wild Rover Backpackers hostel now lives a more exciting life as a hostel, restaurant, and Irish bar. Features like free pool tables, high-speed Internet access, and a party atmosphere have helped it win the best hostel in Bolivia for four consecutive years.

Its dorms accommodate four to ten travelers. Unlike many local hostels, Wild Rover offers women's-only dorms and makeup rooms.

Backpacking might not fit every traveler's tastes, but if you love this type of free-spirited and affordable style of travel, the Wild Rover will likely be right up your alley.

Much nicer than the one in Cusco

Much nicer than the Wild Rover in Cusco! WIFI actually works here, it is much cleaner and you can actually sleep at night unlike the one in Cusco. The staff are also sober and much more helpful here too. The rooms and warm and comfortable and the menu is varied and very resonable.

This hostel was fantastic. It was so fun with events going on all the time. The Irish bar was great with really good drinks offers. The food they served here was pretty good and really cheap! The beds were so comfy with a proper duvet and really soft pillow. Wifi was excellent even in the bedrooms. Highly recommend this hostel!!!- we'll be staying at the cusco and Arequipa hostels when we are in Peru!

Location not perfect but quite ok, 4 computers, wifi everywhere, bathrooms very very clean and hot water, make up room with hair dryers and straightners (not excelent but they dry), lockers in rooms and on reception to leave your phone charging, breakfast ok, bar great with excellent food (try nachos), agency inside the hostel to book any trips, very good ambience. A lot of noise till 2 am but I managed to sleep.

    Hi guys,

here we are again from La Paz which is the world´s highest administrative capital at an elevation of about 3,650 m. This is the next stop on our "papa pilgrimage" :-) as we are travelling on the same road the pope took a couple of weeks before (see the entry of Quito for example). It took us a comparably short busride of 3.5 …

After waking up at 6am we finished packing away our last few bits and had breakfast (pancakes that the owners of the hostel had made for us!!!) before getting a taxi to the bus station for our 7.10am bus to cross the border into Bolivia. I don't really remember much about the 6 days that we spent in Wild Rover, however I know that I had a good time and also know that I didn't manage to do hardly any of the plans that we had (including the death road - the worlds most dangerous road, The Coca Museum, and San Pedro prison)

The main social area of the hostel was a bar, which …
