... by then,their wives would pass sausages through the bars in the gates so they would not go hungry. Not all towns had the same spaces between the bars,hence different size of sausages had to be made. It is possible to walk on top of the wall. We did some shopping in the Christmas shop which was massive. There were hundreds of people in the town to listen to a world championship of marching bands.
