... supposed to pick us up on the other side after a two hour beach walk.
Our walk began at 1:23 a.m.

We ventured down the beach with the light reflecting off of the ocean,
excited to find turtles. After climbing across twigs and branches to
cross one estuary, and walking for about an hour we came upon the
thing we least wanted to see - a freshly slain turtle. A poacher had
beat us to the chase, leaving behind only the shell and head of a once <br ...
David, Panama noreen2837... we later heard that the night before had been Piña Colada night whereby they made cocktails in giant pineapples and mixed them using a drill with a fork stuck in it as there was no blender. Genius I thought! Taking pity on everyone, we decided to head out for a hike on one of the trails and leave them to nurse their hangovers.

Our main point of interest on the hike was to see the tree with a hole through it. We hiked for about an hour until we reached this. I ...
David, Panama mardow... we were tired and frustrated. And I'll spare you details about getting stuck sitting in front of some bratty wailing kid on the overnight bus, wondering if the night would ever end.

Mom wanted to mention that it rained nearly the entire trip and her window leaked the whole time. Water just poured down the inside of the window for hours....

We'll be flying to our future Panamanian destinations. Buses suck.
David, Panama mschwartz... platform guy, gets a message in his walkie talkie leaving him speechless. He then says, "okay, it may be best if we just make our way to the lodge now" Ummmm….what?!?! We all start to worry that the couple ahead of us got hurt along the way. He says, no everything is fine…then starts saying “ no cameras, no cameras” Not settling our nerves at all at this point.

He finally tells us, that one of the cables ...
Boquete, Panama scotthumphrey... food Chinese japanesse restaurant, take some drinks, and tried to sleep there. But they asked us very kindly to leave the restaurant. I wanted in fact to ask her to take a picture of us, we seemed really homeless, with our tired faces, our dirty sweaters (which were identical) and our dirty ugly hair. Really, I usually look not that nice when travelling (also on a normal day, I have to say), but I think I had never looked so homeless as that night. At 12:00 we took a bus to la Chorrera.
Boquete, Panama ncirauqu... we are 1/3 of the way through our trip and 2/3's of the way through our finances, we are eating as much as we can at the hostel to save cash) after which we walked home and passed out due to the humidity.

The following day was spent walking around trying to find the bus station and a salon so Milli could get her trunks sanded (read: legs waxed). I use that particular euphemism because earlier while we were walking around we passed an old man that looked ...
David, Panama shanemilli... head to town for our Tree Trek adventure off the main street at Los Establos Plaza. Around 8am, 8 of us plus several guides loaded into a big open 4x4 truck and headed up the mountains. We were extremely luck to have a gorgeous, cloudless day. The guides were saying that if you were to hike to the top of the Baru that day you'd be able to see both the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. The trek up the mountainside was pretty treturous, but you could tell a lot of work ...
Boquete, Panama lekili... that excited us to come here in the first place. First stop would be David, a large town 6 and a half hours west of Panama City. Our mode of transport was a big air/conditioned coach, stopping off for a speedy meal at a cafeteria half way. En route, we watched two movies dubbed in spanish, and tried to decipher the plots togther...harder than it sounds! After a while of passing through forest/covered mountains, we arrived in David and to our very purple Purple House Hostel.
David, Panama markandchar... I am to have so many great people not only rooting for me, but willing to be a compassionate ear when I hit a rough spot or two. I hereby extend an open invitation to anyone willing to make the trek to Panama. I promise I will make it worth your while....promise, promise, promise..... Thanks again for all your interest and support in my crazy little world. You have all contributed in many ways to the success I am now enjoying in my life. Mil gracias amigos. I'm lovin' you from here!!!
Boquete, Panama roamingjodi... The first words upon officially giving up sleeping for the night are, "we can't do this for another night." At breakfast, we ask the staff if we can change rooms. Score, we can move to a room with A/C. We had a snorkelling/beach tour planned, so at least we don't have to jolt our plans too much by leaving the island and heading somewhere else. So off to the beach. We leave 30 minutes late for some snorkelling and beach-bumming. With us are two gals from ...
