Rio de Janeiro, Brazil bgeffen1I arrived in Rio hungry and tired. I couldn't wait to get to the backpackers and jumped straight on the Real bus (R7, USD3.40) which snakes around the bays past Copacabana. Luckily I'd met a few people on my bus, and one of them made a comment that we were almost to Ipanema. My hostel was in Copacabana, which is before Ipanema. I got off the bus straight away, and a German girl I met on the plane decided to come too. Luckily we were really close to 'Walk on the beach' backpackers, and we soon...
Rio de Janeiro, State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil danasvI was up early (after 13 hours of sleep) and had decided the previous day that in the morning I would head up to Christ the Redeemer. Since noone else from the hostel was going, I decided to go by myself. I found out which bus to take from a Scottish guy in my room who'd been up 4 times trying to get a sunny view. From the main street of Copacabana I jumped on bus 583 and asked the bus attendant to let me know which stop to get off at. As I was getting off the bus I met a couple of girls from...
Rio de Janeiro, State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil danasvWhen I wrote last, I was off to Iguazu... Well that didnīt happen. I left it too late to catch the bus (not like me, I know). So I went for some food with my friends, and back to the hostel bar.. as usual. I ended up meeting a Texan (not American... Texan, very important) called patrick who has invited me to stay with him if I go through Texas on my way up to New York, which I probably will. Nice! I did manage to catch the bus the next evening to Iguazu. I spent most of that day recovering (a...

I am right now actually sitting in an internet cafe in the town of Xela which is in Guatemala. Rio De Janeiro, Brazil jamesdouglasAfter New Year, I really wanted to leave Rio - it is a great place, but Iīve done all the tourist stuff already when I was here last year. Also I got a bit burned on my back and eaten alive by mosquitoes, so I was ready to move on, especially as at night I was a bit miserable while out and couldnīt last the pace as my back was roasting and people were bumping into it, coupled with my mozquito allergy...euugh! The last day I spent in Rio, it was 36 degrees centigrade!! It was great catching up...

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil logbOK, so I've had a pretty busy past week - finishing my placement with IBM, moving out of 154, sorting out all sorts of stuff here there and everywhere... but now here I am in the marvelous city, Rio De Janiero. Now the fact I'm travelling feels pretty real, the 16 hour flight went quickly and I finally was getting excited about what's ahead. I sat between this Brazillian woman, Elizabeth, and this Glaswiegan called Jim. Elizabeth had a 3 month old baby called Anna Gabriella which sat in some ...
