... on! We drained all our energy on it and right after the very weak downhill we started climbing again. On the second hill we calmed down and realized we had to take our time if we wanted to go anywhere else after the top.
We made our way into Huaral and found ourselves some water and some very good oranges in the agriculture center of peru according to the signs. It was a bit ...
... Peruvian desert, or to be more precise, an Oasis called Huacachina, where sun was pretty much guaranteed, yey! If that alone was not enough to entice us away from cloudy Lima, we were also told that we would be able to sandboard (more to follow on that in the next blog entry including a movie showing how Duncan broke the camera...).
While we have been trying to keep to a pretty reasonable budget on our trip so far, Duncan ...

Back at the campsite, we were making a second cup of coffee when a young lady, a housekeeper walked down to the beach to tell us we were invited to breakfast and to come up to the big house overlooking the beach.
We packed up the bikes, carefully rode the Buell out of the sand (being careful not to spin the back tire and wear away the little rubber that ...

... dabbled in Control Systems Engineering programming PLCs (programmable logic computers) with my older brother Joe. Kuya Jojo (that's older brother Jojo in filipino for non-filipinos), you would've have either yawned the entire time and walked out having seen enough of these things, or enthusiastically berated the guide with detailed questions about their control system. In the back of this winery though were some copper tanks that were a little more interesting. At the ...
Lima, Peru excitethesoulI arrived in Lima pretty late. A video in the airport advised me to only get an official taxi. On my way to the information desk, I was accosted by a supposedly official taxi driver who offered me a ride. He had all the right documents and stuff, but if I was pretending to be a taxi driver, it would be easy to make them on a computer. After a bit of uhming and ahhing, I went against my instinct and went with the man. He said he knew where my hostel ...
Lima, Lima, Peru samcohen1987... mishap with tourista and the natives. aside from the area around the airport, Lima is a very beautiful city. Even the Shanty towns they have there are a sight to see. We were able to see the goverment buildings and while we were there a ceremony was happening. The military presence was in your face as there were military men and tanks hanging out. Things i liked Miras Flores, Old Lima, Kennedy Park. Resturant by the pyrimid.
... a la brasa. By now, I'm totally stuffed, and in spite of the comfortable journey from Miami to Lima , in dire need of sleep. I am dropped off at my hotel, and Gustavo promises to come around tomorrow to give me a city tour. The hotel (Hostal Colonial) is basic, clean and extremely well located on the quiet side of town just one block from the Plaza de Armas.
