... of people here-both our age and younger. We just followed all the backpackers from the train. Our room has a beautiful view out over the lake. I just wish I had taken a photo before the rain set in. We really have been very lucky with the weather overall so can't complain. We are only here overnight then we move on to Oslo for three nights. Our time is running out. We will be heading home in a few days.

... with our room and take a long walk along the shore front out of town towards Aurland, a small town down the coast. We pass a small marina and adjacent waterfall, heading back when the mist threatens to become rain. Our plan was to take the 11 a.m train up the Flamsdalen valley to Myrdal and catch the 1 p.m. train to Oslo. As luck would have it, we found ourselves at the train station when the 10 a.m. train was ready to leave, so we decided to jump ...

... before the season is over. Tough as a coot but hospitable. After lunch we began an upward climb to the plateau where we saw the largest burial mounds from the Iron Age and the Viking periods. The weather today was glorious. The morning was a bit cloudy but by early afternoon the sun broke through the clouds and the temperature warmed up a bit. It had been in the low to mid-50's the past couple of days so we were wearing long underwear beneath our rain ...

      Not the hike I expected

... re into parasailing and other such activities, you might also stop in Voss. Otherwise, it's not necessary. While the Voss tourism board does a great job of advertising their hikes and the Flam tourist board does not, Flam has better hikes. I would have loved to have had a full day to hike to Myrdal and slowly see all of the scenery we saw on the train ride. I would have loved to have had time to hike beyond the waterfall. The hikes in Voss were nice, but not necessarily worth a whole day.
