... for tourists for more than a century. First we cruised along the Nærøyfjord which is the narrowest and best known of the many arms of the Sognefjord. With its steep mountainsides, hanging valleys, towering peaks, snowfields, waterfalls and small hamlets, this fjord is perhaps the most outstanding natural attraction in Norway. The Nærøyfjord is 20km long, only 250m across at its narrowest and a mere 12 metres at its shallowest. The ...

... French, and Americans all battered at our castle walls and were repulsed by strategically placed backpacks and extended legs...our own private Idaho! Once again the weather was very pleasant and the crowds really weren't that bad.

Arriving in Flam, we orient ourselves as to the location of our Hotel, the railway station and most importantly, the brew pub. You can smell the roasting hops from the time you exit the ferry. The Norwegian ...

... a few caravans, after seeing very few. Like someone turned on a switch - "Summer is here!" Not sure where to camp until we came to Tvinnefossen Falls, so spectacular we HAD to stop. 160 metres high, numerous terraces to make the cascades breathtaking. We climbed the path for photos and got wet with spray, then camped at the bottom. Nothing will wake us tonight, over the roar of the water. Norway gets better every ...
