The next day was more 'cultural,' at least in the morning. Leaving at around 8, we drove first through the capital city - Suva - and stopped/paused for a few minutes outside various government buildings and the sites of the several coups of recent years. From there, we drove to a town to buy lunch and stationery (for our school visit later) and then ate on the bus as we bumped our way up a gravel road into the hills. After a while, we pulled over by a village and, donning sarongs once more, t...
Rakiraki, Viti Levu, Fiji ajbattyHello We arrived in Fiji at 6am on the 3rd October, we lost a day on the way as we crossed the international date line. On Thursday 4th October we went to Robinson Crusoe Island, on the way there we went in a sideless boat so the water came in and soaked us!!! The island was amazing, we saw traditional Fijian dancing and fire dancing. The guide climbed up a coconut tree and we got to pick a coconut which they broke open so we could drink the juice. On Saturday 6th October we joined the Feejee...
Nadi, Fiji anneandsandraThe pace was then to step up a few notches as I returned to the main island of Viti Levu staying in Smugglers Cove for a night, before joining the Feejee Experience (guided tour bus) for the next 4 days. Picked up at 8.15am on our lovely green bus - where two of the lovely ladies I'd met at Oarsman's were also on board - hurray! There were about 15 of us on the tour - fab group of friends for the trip ahead! Day 1: Nadi to Mango Bay! First stop was Nadi markets & shops where I bought a su...
Nadi, Viti Levu, Fiji lauraballThere is a smattering of witty titles from which I could choose for this account and of which I'll list below, but the one I think I'll use is quite dry and rather unimaginative: That Time in Fiji and New Zealand When I Almost Lost My Left Hoof. Ones that struck a nerve with me, no pun intended were: Old Deathbed Froning Is What They Used to Call Her The Reason I Didn't Get SCUBA Certified in Fiji Misery and Agony A Traveler's Guide to Hospitals in the Southern Hemisphere, On a Shoestring Hoo...
Rakiraki, Fiji sxy9145I woke up in the morning thinking I wanted to finish the Feejee Experience with my group. I decided not to stay in Suva and not to go to Savusavu or Taveuni. I wanted to take it easy and enjoy what was in front of me. We started out around 9AM and went to a town north of Suva to use the ATMs there. There was a Westpac there so that wasn't a problem and I ended up getting a big slice of pizza for lunch (FJ$1.5). Then we made another stop to get food for lunch :) I already had the pizza so I go...

Rakiraki, Fiji anneristo... it was supposed to have occurred but the something was due to happen it was not at the wrong time but at, Fiji tiiiiime! We were handed the dive book and told to read it for a test the next day. When do we have to finish reading the book? Don't worry, just Fiji time. Will we go for a confined water dive today? Maybe, Fiji time. What time do we have to be ready tomorrow morning? Whenever, remember, Fiji tiiiiiime. OK ...
Volivoli beach resort, Fiji coopertrooper... by. The water source on the island fell from the sky which tasted delicious although had a slight green tinge if held up to the sun. Nananu-i-ra is a white colonial island with no chief and purely freehold land. This as you can imagine is having consequences on the land dividing and small political battles are ongoing.

The island is hour-glass shaped so only took seconds to walk ...
Nadi, Fiji julesandjames... ago". This car was going all the way though to Savusavu (second bigest town on the island) which I also planned on visiting. But I decited to accept the offer of a friendly lady in the truck who invited me to their farm somewhere halfway. So after about an hour and a half driving through a rainforest with a view of the ocean we got off the car. A little road led into a coconuttree plantation. Another 30 minutes walking through a tropical rainstorm led us to their farm. A ...
