It's a hostel out of the way. Our first hostel, so we didn't have anything to compare it to. Looking back, it has a cosy and hippy vibe. Great breakfast and it's cheap!

FANTASTIC, quirky hostel in a great location

Couldn't be happier with this hostel! It's immaculate, in an excellent location (botofogo metro is just 3 minutes walk away) and the staff are very helpful, speaking excellent English. The shared spaces and rooms are rustically decorated and full of character. We stayed in a private room which we booked in advance and also ended up staying in a 15 bed dorm as we wanted to extend our stay, both were excellent. Lots if showers, great breakfast, good WiFi connection... what more could you want!?

Rio De Janeiro is a city I have long dreamt of visiting and was so excited arriving here on the first stop of our trip. Rio’s appeal for me was the diversity and the vibrant culture and this was something we were excited to experience. Getting from the airport to the hostel was first an experience in itself. It was late and we couldn’t …

... of days. We both had splitting headaches and were sneezing and coughing our heads off. The decision was made to look for another place. Against all odds, there was another apartment open in the Ipanema area for a reasonable price. We told Salon, and again, this very charming man was understanding and sorry for our troubles. He agreed to reimburse Mauro for any of the days we did not stay. So we booked the new place and packed up ...

Some of the rock houses an army barracks and is off limits to the public but there are numerous cafes and restaurants and souvenir shops along the north side of the rock which has small cannons along its length and affords good views of Sugarloaf mountain to the north. The path leads to the fort, museum and the big guns which have protected this part of the coast in years gone by. The museum is free and you ...
