It's a hostel out of the way. Our first hostel, so we didn't have anything to compare it to. Looking back, it has a cosy and hippy vibe. Great breakfast and it's cheap!

Couldn't be happier with this hostel! It's immaculate, in an excellent location (botofogo metro is just 3 minutes walk away) and the staff are very helpful, speaking excellent English. The shared spaces and rooms are rustically decorated and full of character. We stayed in a private room which we booked in advance and also ended up staying in a 15 bed dorm as we wanted to extend our stay, both were excellent. Lots if showers, great breakfast, good WiFi connection... what more could you want!?

Rio De Janeiro is a city I have long dreamt of visiting and was so excited arriving here on the first stop of our trip. Rio’s appeal for me was the diversity and the vibrant culture and this was something we were excited to experience. Getting from the airport to the hostel was first an experience in itself. It was late and we couldn’t …

... sure if we should intervene or not, we just watched on to see what would happen. They eventually walked away and everything returned to normal except for the fact we were hurting from laughing too much. It was a quiet night for us, we ordered subway in a foreign language and got corn off the cob then back to the apartment to watch football and drink a beer. Another tough day at the office really ;) BUENOS NACHOS! ...

... attract hundreds of thousands of people. These run throughout the day, with some starting as early as 8am! Safe to say, I was still in bed at this time! Before arriving, I had no idea that so many people would be in fancy dress for the blocos, with an alarming number of men dressed as women, slightly concerning! Most of the blocos play traditional samba music from large floats with bands on, which is great, but slightly frustrating when all the Brazilians around you ...
