Newly refurbished, star of a hostel

by (9 reviews) Combeinteignhead , United Kingdom Flag of United Kingdom

We stayed in a private room which was cheaper than a dorm at United backpackers and a lot nicer. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The common spaces were good with a large kitchen and meeting rooms on each floor. There was also a rooftop with a jacuzzi which we didn't try out and a limited gym, but a gym nonetheless. For a hostel I really couldn't fault it. The only bad point if you want to be picky is a $20 deposit for a crockery set to eat with however it's not really a big deal. Overall I would recommend to anyone especially if staying on a private room.

A good budget hotel in the heart of Melbourne. A glamourised hostel with shared bathrooms, I had a twin room booked as a single and it was very comfortable. Great facilities, good security, friendly staff.

Nice location, easy to get to and into late at night. Good facilities and quiet. Strange to have to hire cutlery and crockery. We got an hour's Wi-Fi free.

Melbourne is a nice city. Lots going on yet not too chaotic. Great public transport, lots of green space and waterside stuff as well. There seems to be no …

Almost home! Somewhere over the Pacific Ocean I lost Wednesday. Left Tuesday night for a fifteen hour flight and arrived in Melbourne on Thursday. No wonder our body clocks get confused!

An extended stay in Melbourne gave me a perfect opportunity to recover from any jet lag before attending a cousin's son's wedding two days later.

... few days ago. Then I got a smoothie from "Boost" - it's like the Starbucks of the juice/smoothie generation.

Then I wandered around Birrarung Marr, the city's newest park area. Not that impressive, but at least it's green space. Got photos of the Federation Bells, Rod Laver Arena and cricket ground. Sat by the river for a while. Then walked back up to Federation Square and got a coffee. Still four hours to go until I ...
