Six Flag Magic Mountain

Ray: LA - Venice Beach, the NBA, Hollywood

Hi y'all This is just a quick summary. Arrived in LA to a hot day although one of the airport officials told us to wrap up warmly because it was "cold" outside. Probably 20 instead of 25. Picked up by Ian, our Hostel manager. Tall English guy nice and easy to talk to. Settled into our room and went out for a walk to see the sights. Off to Venice Beach. Almost got run over by cars driving on the bloody wrong side of the road. Grrr. Venice is a nice beached area flattened by bulldozers, cleaned...

We arrived in Los Angeles at about 3:00pm which is weird having only left at about 12:00am But that's time differences for you. It's the closest thing to time travelling that you can do, so I find it really cool. Went to the car rental place and picked up our car, we were made up by the fact it was the convertable Mustang that Dave had wanted. Dave thinks it's such a cool car, had set his heart on it and was so made up when we walked out to the bay it was parked in. Drove up to our hostel at ...

Little Ted and his friends flew from Rarotonga to Los Angeles. The flight took nine and a half hours, so there was plenty of time to watch lots of films. Little Ted saw many strange things in LA but he loved it!

... area within SM. The hostel itself was fantastic. Secure, clean and all the amenities you could ask for. Getting used to sleeping in a dorm with 5 other guys coming in and out of the room at all hours took some getting used to, but all in all i thoroughly enjoyed my stay there. I manged to meet up with a friend, Kate, who i'd not seen in 2 years or so, and she's been fantastic, showing ...

... Alladin, I wa Iyagu (or however you spell it) and Caz was Jafar. It was so fun! Caz taped it on her phone and it makes us laugh everytime we see it. We hadn't had anything to eat that day cos we ran out of time to have breakfast so by about 12.30 we were absolutely starving! I bought the only thing that wasn't deep fried or covered in cinnamon which was a chicken caeser salad. It was pretty good - overpriced but nice. After ...

... Park, check in, Admiral's Club. Nothing extraordinary to report. We munched on veggie sticks and little sandwiches. I had a Mai Tai to start off our tropical holiday (although it's been years since I had one of those drinks and it wasn't as good as I remembered, lol). Tried to get some sleep on the plane before our stopover in Ft. Lauderdale...
