... Market which has been going on every Sunday since the year 1910. I hear that it seems every Athenian comes and it is a good idea to get there early because by 11am, there are unmanagable crowds wanting to buy stuff that people sell.

While looking around I lost track of the time and realised it was Lunch time! so I headed back to the subway I came off of when going to the Monastiraki Square and the train went on line 3 until it got to Ermou ...

I then walked through the national gardens
again, then through the Plaka area, I got a bit lost and ended up on
another way to the Acropolis. I looked at the map, worked out where I

... the next week and so we decided to change our plans and head for Naxos. It was much more difficult to get a ferry to this island, which was suggestive of its popularity. However, we decided that there was still so much to see in Athens and the surrounding area that we could easily wait until Wednesday for the ferry. ... and pole, and street vendors sold everything from grilled corn on the cob to whistles to the crowds of people who gathered there to peacefully make their point. We never felt threatened or unsafe around there, though our eyes, noses and throats still stung with the remains of tear gas from days before. They must have gone crazy with the stuff - we even found a tear gas canister on the window still of our hostel room.
