Last stop Melbourne

All good things come to an end one day....even my time in Australia. A few guys from the Rock Tour group caught a flight back to Melbourne. Me, Antonio and Alana stuck together for our last days in Melbourne and did a fair bit of sightseeing, strolled around markets, had good food and a few drinks (I do suck at drinking games by the way - disastrous), went to the movies and just had a good time.
Somehow the time went so quickly that my mindset wasn't focused on Asia yet. And on Tuesday mo...

G'day Mate! (September and October)

So, we arrived in Melbourne on the 5th September 2009 and headed to our hostel Urban Central, which we were unaware, was going to be our home for the next 7 weeks! It was a good enough hostel, with only 4 people to a dorm room, and a good cheap bar downstairs where we made some good friends. The only downside was the fact that the kitchen was big enough for about 20 people and had about 5 pans and 10 sets of cutlery. There were about 400 living there! So it was very stressful cooking dinner e...

Melbourne

Hi - I am so so sorry for not having written for over a month! I have just been so busy doing absolutly nothing for the whole time that I keep forgetting! I spent the Easter weekend camping at the base of Mt Baw Baw which was lovely - it was really good to be able to get away from the whole backpacker scene for a couple of days especially after a crazy last few days and nights in Sydney! It was a beautiful area right by a river and spectauclar waterfalls. It was a shame that the weather was n...

Aha, unser Z...

Melbourne, what a great city

So I finally have gotten around to writing a couple of things down. Melbourne what a great city with the exception of the weather while I was there. I felt like I had all four seasons while I was there. Yes it even hailed one day.

So the following are some stories from my time in Melbourne. I wish I could tell you about the best night that I had, but I could get arrested for it (seriously). All I can say is that it was one of thats nights that you will always remember, yes it was that ...

Melbourne 1

Well, it took a while longer than expected to get to Melbourne. We sprung a tire, so we had to wait for a replacement. In stead of 10PM I arrived in Melbourne with a delay of 2.5 hours.

Melbourne 2

It was Sunday yesterday, and it showed. Traffic was not as busy as other days, and not every shop was open. But most were.
And it was a wonderful day. Lot's of people were taking a walk in the city, or went shopping for Christmas. Here, Christmas is mostly about giving presents and being with your family, much more than at home (in my experience).

I saw an amazing street entertainer. (Not only because he looked good. ;-) ) He really new how to interact with his audience. And he swa...

A place called home?

This will be the last blog of my trip and I'm pleased to say I had a fantastic time in Oz. Last time I wrote I was just checking into my hostel in Melbourne which turned out to be nice especially having a room to myself. I met some guys from England and a few good nights out. i really love this city, its very European, and kind of grows on you! I liked it so much that I extended my stay two extra days just to take it all in. Its a very homely city, less brash than Sydney, and feels less touri...

Creepy House

G'day Mates, Alright, we have done some serious drinking tonight so please excuse the grammar and spelling on the last couple blog entries. But if you can excuse that then giddy up! So we had just booked our room at our fav hostel the Erskine Backpackers Lodge and decided to go to the local super market to pick up our dinner. Lo and behold we meet these two backpacking girls, Renee from Alberta and Hanna from the UK (Two def cuties), whom somehow had acquired a huge house to stay in. After a ...

... not many interesting sites. We did get a good chance to pick up on the local fashion scene, I'll just say that short-shorts are back for guys, I may try to bring back the fashion to the states, we'll see. We did have some drinks and dinner at a great spot down town, Melbourne has over 44,000 restaurants, so we had plenty to choose from. Our last day was spent in Melbourne's King's ...
