It is now called United Backpackers. I enjoyed staying at this hostel as it isn't as big as the other one I have stayed in. The staff on reception are friendly and they have a good kitchen area to cool food with appliance that work. The only downside is that the rooms aren't air con so it does get really hot at night even with the fans on and window open. There also isn't a laundry room but it is due to open soon. There is large lockers under the bed to store your stuff and the location is amazing.

Average regarding cleanliness. Big kitchen but underground, no windows. No common area. I arrived before check in time with heavy luggage, I wanted to leave them in the hostel and go for a walk... I did it, but had to pay for storing them. I know I'm "just" a backpacker, but considering I stayed one week it was a very cheap and lame behavior on their behalf. Go somewhere else.

well its nice to have ur own room but u may as well be in a massive room with 70 others as ther are partitions not walls between rooms so can hear what everyone else is up too.... as for the kitchens....foul!!

Today is the Melbourne F1 Grand Prix. I’m not into all of this stuff (but Erik is) so all you really need to know about this (from my perspective) is that we go there, we listen to cars go zoom, zoom, xza zoom for about three hours. Maybe Erik will later want to write more about this (but I’m guessing not as the blogging bit is my thing and he looks after all the driving), but for now, that's about it.

You deck somebody coming off the tram and the victim would probably hop up and say, “No worries mate!” Our hope is that some of this easy-going openness to the world and it’s people is rubbing off on the kids – afterall, that would be one of the reasons to have taken the trip in the first place.

It's been a week since Nicki and I went to the Aussie Open last Sunday, and I feel like I've been in Australia for months already. The weather has been lovely and I'm starting to even tan! The other girls arrived last Sunday and we've been exploring our neighbourhood as well as downtown Melbourne. I've been to Williamstown beach a couple times as well as St Kilda beach in downtown Melbourne. I saw my first jellyfish at the ...
