What a week

Ok, here it is, the update you have all been waiting for. I've been in Africa for a week now and nearly all of that time has been spent on a safari so I haven't had access to the internet.
Well, the flight over here was brutal... it was like 30 hours in transit! Soooo long. I would say it was way worse than the flight to Australia. But I finally got here so its all good. I got into Nairobi at about 9 pm and so I just went straight to the hostel and spent one night there.

The next ...

... is all I did! After we were done in the Crater we headed to the top of it to have our packed lunch. This was quite the experience on its own. About 10 seconds after I took my sandwich out of the tuperware, a hawk swooped down and grabbed it out of my hands!! lol It was the craziest thing ever!! It's wing hit Den in the head. Nutso.
From the Crater though we had a long drive to get to the Serengeti. The road was bumpy, dusty, windy, and rainy, and it totally puts the ...

Safaris

New Homestay!

... Mama Anna's fresh passion fruit juice from her yard. And, I had a hot dog for breakfast. Awesome. Explanation: Tanzanians call hot dogs sausages, so when you think about it that way, not so weird because Americans eat sausages for breakfast.

Time to go to school, will update about this past weekend more when I get the chance. But I am rejuvenated and alive now that I actually got a non-Valium induced sleep last night. YES!

First Blog!!!!!

... modernization of the city. Every so often, we would see a person/dog just trekking on the side of the road and we would pass small villages (and I mean small) which were evident by the road side shops (or Dukas). We also passed Nkoranga, where we would spend some time later in our trip at their hospital, leprosy home, HIV clinic and CCF. As we came into Arusha town, we passed the United Nation’s Tribunal Building where they are STILL having trials ...

... pasta which was so good and so worth the extra money - definitely not as good as penne ala vodka I've been craving, but still better than the usual rice and beans.

We had plans to go out on Thursday night so we had checked in to stay at Centre House again. They definitely love our business there. After dinner we stopped at the store to pick up some beer and wine to drink before heading out to Mwingu night club. We saw a bottle of wine called "Jewine" - awesome ...

Day 216 217 - Tanzania, Arusha - Jingle Cats

... were unable to spot any badgers or armadillos. On the drive back Lindsay wouldn't stop listening to jingle cats - a band made up completely of cats and their little meows. Either that or Jamie kept setting her ipod to it each and every time she put it down... who knows. Could have been the badgers. Suzy Q came out with comment of the day asking if anyone had read that book "Dinner with Mugabe" pronounced "Mug-a-bee". Funny. Trip back was good, but long. Arrived back at Snake ...
