Sunday 6 July 2014 Cesky Krumlov - Telc

Very warm 28C

Today we left Chesky Krumlov and headed for another (aren't they all) historic town just east called Telc,

We caught the Student Agency bus again for the 40 minute trip to Chesky Budejovic - home of Budweiser beer - but although thirsty didn't have time to find and sample the local product....

From the home of beer, we transferred to a train and after 2 hours ...

Jan Hus, was another great figure in history here - he was a priest reformer in the late 1300s. Fighting a Corrupt church, high taxes, hierarchy, Have you heard about the Chalice Warriors, or Hussars - that was him. The church wasn't happy about these ideas and they burnt him at the stake. ... looked different and the houses too. We stopped at a very old town in a big bend of the river. There was an amazing bridge held up by three layers of arches. A beautiful painted tower was on top of a big castle with bears in the moat. Even though we have seen lots of amazing things I was still stunned by this beautiful place.

... hotel, the Grand Hotel Zvon, is suitably grand, but has a slight air that its best days are behind it. They serve a very good Pilsner Urquelle.

... tispy before so it was a bit more interesting. I was actually the only english tourist there so I got a nice private tour Of the brewerie from a nice old lady! The non-filtered budweiser beer was by far one of the best beers I've tasted so far in Czech. Too bad you can't get it anywhere but there since it can really travel well. So yeah, pretty much a day trip there was more than enough. Good ...
